The Patrol

Patrolling the barren mainland of the academic block (battlefield area) in my usual gear that includes a pair of earphones, a single strap bag and a communicating device that also serves as the music player and looking for high priority targets i came up with this post. Patrolling is an essential duty of all the members of the Legion i am a part of. This special task requires high presence of mind, stealth, and specialization in sign and code language and ninja techniques. The targets must never know that they are under the radar. This Legion is yet to be named. Patrolling is one of the several tasks that this spec-ops team is capable of doing.

Coming back to the Patrolling, the path includes the following locations of the battlefield.
1.Jaggi (the heart)- The heart of all activities and a nice location to camp with the UAV recon .This place serves as a hangout spot for most of the civilians. The density of population varies according to time with the least in morning and maximum in evening.5pm to 7pm is the prime time in this area. This Vantage point is of prime importance and the most important location in the path. At this point many people “see” (yes this is the same see you are thinking of) many people and hence starts the journey, the journey which will make you do things you have never done, may bring the best out of you :D. Jaggi is the place where many comrades lose their mind and what not in pursuit of “happiness”(apparently what some people call it).Moving on to the next location in the path

2.Directorate(the fortress)- The high-command office / working area where executive decisions are made. It has got cells which serves as working area for most of our mentors/oppressors. This VVIP location is where all our money goes (the money which we pay to stay in the battlefield) . The executives here make battle plans(the exams) , some changes in the functioning of the field and related stuff. The whole area is the only area in the college which is air conditioned( quiet ironical even after spending so much ). The mentors here prepare ground for the battles which we fight in the following sections of the patrol path.

3.The E/F block(active war zone). The area where we spend most of our time and is an active warzone. It holds the 2/3 hours battles named MST/EST respectively which we fight during specific months of the year. These battles lead to win or defeat and thus plays an important role in deciding our fates. Some might argue that these battles are useless but what i feel is that winning here is pretty much important (may be not by a big margin but yes one should ultimately succeed) . The battle count in the four years of warfare is approximately 88 and one should try and not die (gaining a F) in any of the battle, severe injuries might get healed with time but death is not a very good sign though you can reverse it but i say it’s not a wise decision to die. One can control the result of these battles. During cold war (normal working days) these areas are full of activity and the person who started his/her journey at Jaggi can continue it here. :p

4 The D block- A place that bring back fond memories , I remember how i met the members of the Legion in the freshmen year . There is nothing much to see here and is just a connecting link in the patrol .The D block is also the gateway to the official hideout The Library for many couples :p.

5.The Corridor- the corridor which acts as the connecting path from D block back to Jaggi is of less importance but what comes after the corridor is of utmost importance ; The placement cell(freedom cell)- which i feel is the most important battle place and if u win there you gain freedom , you are free to do whatever you have ever thought of. From here sky is the limit for you

From this corridor it’s back to Jaggi . This is the PATROL PATH

The playlist

Well whenever we listen to a song something comes to our mind be it a friend, a person more than a friend (in your viewpoint) , someone you like or anything that your mind conjures up
following are some songs from the playlist i am currently listening to(yeah that means while writing ). These songs are followed by where i heard them first and what comes up to my mind when i listen to them

NOTE: these are instantaneous reactions

1.The Call- Regina Spektor

First heard-The Chronicles of Narnia
well i just heard this song once, before she(the one) shared it with me.Whenever I listen to this song i imagine her singing the song coz her voice is pretty much like the singer of this song
Apart from that this song has amazing lyrics.

(Note: If you(the her mentioned in the above post) is reading this post , i just wanna say that you have an amazing voice.

2.Mad World-Gary Jules

First heard-Gears of War(for those who don't know what Gears of war is gfgi!!!)
this is a song i can relate to , while listening to this i think of the people around me, you should listen to the lyrics carefully because they are amazing.
I imagine myself sitting somewhere in a crowded area motionless while others are running here and there(as if i am in a slow-motion state and they are in fast-motion state).Do listen to this song.

3.Hurt-Johnny Cash

First heard-Angad's home
This song orginally written and performed by NIN is one of the best songs i have ever come across. The low pitch husky voice of Cash has magic in it. While listening i think about the life of Johnny Cash which is depicted in the movie Walk The Line. This song is the only song that has ever made me cry, it's full of pain and i bet if you listen to it you will also feel something similar

4.Moonshield - In Flames

First heard-some time in 2010
Melodeath, some of you readers might not like it so you can skip it
i often wonder how do these guys come up with such a thing, its really amazing
the vocals , the rifts etc. while listening to metal i don't think much and just enjoy the thing.

5.Dil Chahta Hai-Dil Chahta Hai

First heard-quiet a long time back
Ah! the playlist is magical or what, this is one good song and has memories attached with it. I even sang this song in front of my class in 5th grade.(imagine me singing :D) . This song has that touch of happiness and lightens the mood immediately. I remember how i learnt the lyrics of this song, i played it line by line and wrote it in my notebook. The best stretch of the song is from 2:30 to 3:00
the video is also cool.If i get an opportunity to drive a Mercedes on the Bombay-Goa highway i'll be delighted

Well i think i should stop now
the above post was just a glimpse of the playlist
and also ages have passed before i last wrote

a sudden urge to write

There was this moment when everything seemed to be Yellow. People seemed to be progressing at the rate of Speed of sound and i was somewhere Lost in my own world( i am pretty sure that everyone have had a moment like this in their lives else u are not human). While my world was yellow others were living Life in Technicolor. The Clock needles appeared to be stationary as if someone had switch it(clock) off.In such moment the only thing that can Fix You is the thing you like doing the most or the person you love the most. One needs a thing that creates a Rush of Blood to the head and he/she Swings back to Square One.

ok by now you must have realized where all this is going if not just see what stands out in the post

:D

PS-This is not a real life incident , just a sudden urge to write

The Drive

Location: Sector 8,Chandigarh
I could see the red needle of the speedometer glued to the 30kmph mark of the orange LED dial meticulously crafted in graphite like console of the Honda City, the engine barely made sound (as if someone muted it ) and it felt as if i were gliding.I was sitting on the passenger seat and Angadvir Singh Bhatti was effortlessly driving the car.It was like there was no friction(technically not possible) and the car was drifting on its own. The wet earth smell, the music and the chilled air were a treat to my sensory receptors.
My head which is generally clouded with different thought strings was at peace.(may be i am exaggerating but if you have felt something like this you would agree with me) All i was doing was appreciating and enjoying the drive.
Call it Angad's brilliant driving ,Honda's perfection and natures beauty this drive was one of the most peaceful drive i have ever had.

Random

Time: some time in the morning
Place: Hostel J , Thapar University
Scene I:
I woke up to the alarm i had put up the previous night (and still didn't notice the time ,funny). After performing my chores i plugged in my earphones and headed for college. On my way i noticed that there was no one on the road (well a pretty usual thing) but even at the campus i saw no body then i started to panic. The whole college had turn into some sort of deserted place (like some place which was recently nuked) with everything in its place. I took out my phone and it showed all the network bars so i started calling up people and as i was doing this strangely “Bulls on Parade”(a friend of mine) showed up and he  explained his part of the story which was pretty much the same(strangely this friend of mine never shows up in college on usual days).
Scene II:
Bulls on Parade and I were somewhere in a building and we were not on the ground floor  because it was on fire  . We took the stairs and suddenly there was an Earthquake and the stairs ahead of us shattered. We did panic but after a while we calmed down and there was silence, the only sound we could hear was that of the  flames from the ground floor. After a while there was another sound, a familiar sound . We started moving towards the source and soon after we discovered that the source was a girl ( a familiar face) . Let her name be Tara( i  cant disclose the name) and i had a crush on her a long time back.  She was stuck somewhere and there was a huge gap in the floor between us. The only way to get her out of there was to make her jump. We calmed her down and asked her to jump ( she didn’t have a athletic built and the gap was pretty huge) and she agreed to do so. The Plan was simple –one of us had to catch her, for a moment there was complete silence and then Bulls on Parade counted till 3 and she jumped and fell into my arms. I must say it was  like some bollywood movie  scene and we had  eye contact for a while.

Scene III:
I was roaming around the streets of Patiala looking for people and friends ( the phone was still with me but for no particular reason i didn't use it) . The place was deserted but everything was in its place. I somehow got to lay hands on a Audi Q7  and it had a superb feel to it. The Audi was loaded with barrels of diesel , loads of edible stuff .I was on my way to a Armoury shop to pick up some weapons for safety purposes and as i reached there i grabbed a rifle , pistol and loads of ammo.I did practice shooting some place i don't remember.  Somewhere on my way back to college to look for some more people “FiR3eBoLt!” ( another friend of mine ) called  up and i was so elated to hear his voice , he told  me his whereabouts and i reached there. We then decided to locate our other friends and suddenly the phone started ringing

Ring ring ring and i am in my bed
I realize that it was a dream(much inspired by the movies ) . I was controlling it at some places like the Q7,weapons etc but the friends and the crush which appeared  in the dream were beyond my control. I wanted to post this dream as soon as i woke up in the noon but i had some prior engagements so didn’t get time.Strangely i remember a lot abt this dream....

Life a game or vice versa?? continued...

well imperial age was where i last left the post
Post Imperial age
At the age of 16 my gaming decreased by drastic proportions due to preparations for exams like AIEEE , IIT-JEE  etc.. marking the silence before the storm
After getting into college i got my laptop and with the nvidia power i first played Counter Strike which is the most played first person shooter game on the internet and local networks in hostels.I played it in my first year of college and my favorite gun was M4a1 (Maverick from where the blog derives its name) so u can see how much i liked it .

Call of Duty :Modern Warfare I
a game with  superb single player story and  brilliant multi player scenarios, a game which has become a part of my life ,a game which i play online with my closest pals and wish to play it for a long long time

After Call of Duty 4 single player came Crysis a mammoth game with likewise graphic requirements , still managed to complete the game , although in my opinion it has a slow start but as we move forward in the game it starts meeting up your expectations and has a beautiful ending.

After this came Call of Duty :World at War based on World War II . The game has a great story line and i enjoyed the game a lot
In between came Need For Speed : Undercover which i dint like that much and it was more of a disappointment but as they say dawn after night
Assassins Creed was launched by Ubisoft and with its unique story and game play it became a instant hit and i must say is one of the top members of my favorite games list.
The weapons, the ancient Rome and solid story line and a superb game play are some of the game highlights.

Call of Duty :Modern Warfare 2 sequel to Modern Warfare I is also a nice game but has a very small campaign and it just came and passed by.
Assassins Creed II a sequel to Creed I came in 2010 and it proved to be even better than its predecessor and kept me busy for a few days in summer 2010

By the end of 2010 came Call of Duty :Black Ops which is not as good as any of the predecessors but still it is Call of Duty so had to play it.
Splinter Cell : Conviction based on the life of secret agent Sam Fisher a fictional character has a unique game play and one of the finest game play , great use of stealth and perfect executions ,in all a superb game.

and the last but not the least is Need for Speed : Hot Pursuit 2 an amazing game, great details and mind blowing sound effects and races, became my favorite time pass during the semester exams.

Few games i am looking forward to lay my hands on in the year 2011 are Crysis II and Ghost Recon
This was my gaming life summed up in a few words and while writing this post many memories came up.

Life a game or vice versa??

This post is dedicated to a very close friend of mine "fir3bolt".
i have  divided this post into different time zones as per the level of games(graphic quality wise)

Dark Age
It was 97-98 when i guess i played my first computer game dave and following it were zool,Prince and Wolf 3d
on my cousins computer.

Feudal Age
Around 1999 when my uncle bought a computer(the first computer in the house) and i got a chance to lay hands on that beautiful machine, there was this excitement  and even 9 years later when i got my laptop there was the same excitement. On that machine i played Road Rash,Duke Nukem 3d.
Road Rash has a unique style to it, even the graphics now may seem to be crappy but i played that game extensively and it was addictive.
.

Castle Age
Hidden and Dangerous was a revolutionary game that altogether changed my gaming style, i started spending hours on gaming and that too without any breaks in between , started skipping my meals so as to complete the missions. This game is based on World War II and is a third person shooter game , it is the most extensive and difficult game i have ever played and definitely stands somewhere in the top of my favorite game list.

How can i forget Hitman again a third person shooter game which had an amazing story line, tactical missions and pretty decent graphics.I remember how i used to play this game with my brother , we used to make strategy to assassinate our targets. This was one hell of a game

Imperial Age
Command and Conquer Tiberian Sun and Command and Conquer  Red Alert 2 both of them strategy games which i played at my cousins place . Me and my brother used to spend 4 to 5 hours every sunday on these games. Apart from these two Age of Empires, Age of Mythology were also there which also consumed lot of my time :D.

Around 2002 Sony Play Station was becoming quiet common and being a gamer it did grab my attention and the result was me spending my pocket money on the gaming shop sort of thing popularly known as "MAMA ki Dukaan"
Among the games i played were Smack Down, Crash Bandicoot  etc.
It was around 2005 when i got my desktop and gaming still continued.
Max Payne 2 with its revolutionary style( the time thingy) did fascinate me and kept me engrossed in gaming.
Need For Speed underground, hot pursuit 1 and NFS II were the racing games that i came across and these game i must say were really nice.

i feel this post has become to lengthy and i am too tired

To be continued....

The post that expired long back

Well i heard somewhere "initiating is the most difficult part" finally here i am blogging.
The act have multiple reasons but we can leave it for some other day

maverick.NET
seems like a geeky name well can be attributed to a part of my personality, i managed to assemble a image
as u can see above.
This image explains the name
Maverick m4a1 used to be my favorite weapon when i played Counter Strike(most played LAN game)
if u notice the image carefully there is a maroon logo sort of thing... its Maverick Meerkat (Linux Ubuntu version 10.10) , successor of the OS i installed recently (for learning point of view)
the white plane and maverick written in bold is from the movie Top Gun , which was amongst the first movie i saw on a PC
and the right top corner is an ad of Ford indicating my interest in cars
and the most important of all taking the dictionary meaning of the word "maverick" which defines me

well i guess this is enough for the first post.
